Qualcomm Atheros QCA 9565 only goes 72Mbps? Even though it's an 'N'?

Okay, after realizing that my HP Notebook's Qualcomm Atheros QCA 9565 does NOT have 5G capability I have a DIFFERENT issue/question:

I am on the 2.4ghz router with full signal and yet it only shows a connection speed of 72Mbps at the CARD when I run a status on it... And I am only 19 feet away from the router... When I run speedtest.net, It comes back at about 33Mbps Download on average...

I have no problems with our Phones connecting up (on either 2.4 or 5) - For THEM when I run speedtest I get around 50Mbps download (on 2.4 - I get about 150 on the 5G)...

So, is there some setting that is preventing it from connecting up at a speed faster than 72Mbps??  This card says that it's a 802.11 b/g/n after all... shouldn't it be getting 54-600 ??

I manage to find a solution after all the non response from HP support.

You will have access the BIOS sys when your laptop boot up and make the changes there. Press F10 to access Bios when start up. There is a setting in the BIOS that will allow you to change it to keyboard default.

Hope this helps.

Re: hp omni 100 pc will not connect to my WIRELESS NETWORK

i got my omni 100 working again.

1st, download the hardware diagnostics CD from HP site. its a bootable CD, run all the tests it has to offer. the tools did not show a seperate wifi device, only the realtek PCIe, i am not sure if the wifi is built into that piece of hardware. all tests were "ok" for me.

next, i ran kaspersky rescue disc 10. after it boots up it gives you an option to connect to the network, and guess what, the wifi device was there and useable. kaspersky RD10 has to goto interner to update its anti-malware sig database, then run the deepest/fullest scan you can configure, scan all drives/partitions/volumes. my full scan took about 4hrs. it found nothing. but it did prove to me that the wifi device was fine. running RD10 wont work if you have an encrypted disk or using EFS.

the repair stuff on the running win10 just didnt work for me. i was going to run a dism command to use a good install.wim image to repair the running win10, but i didnt, i just used the MS ISO win10 download to re-install, it keeps all your data and apps. get the correct ISO for your system here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO/

burn the ISO to dvd, boot your system with this dvd, install, when prompted to verify be sure the options to keep all files and all apps are selected (should be by default).

after the install all my issues were fixed. win10 then did a big win10 download for updates.  my omni 100 is back and working.

My laptop quite often fails to connect to wifi broadband. Sometimes it connects without an issue, other times it fails to recognise any networks. Other devices in the house connect without any issues, is this a common Windows 10 problem?

hope somebody can help as my shiny new laptop is on its way to the bin!!

Hello everyone,

I am an IT Support Desk Analyst and we have a Ultrabook Folio 9470m that seems to have a issue with the WiFi button, everytime I activate it gives me blue screen and restarts.

I have rebuild it completely and also installed the latest driver on the HP website along with the newest Bios update but still does the same problem.

Thank you very much for your help.

Hi,

Geez, how could someone get into your computer to steal the wireless card ? Anyway, your machine supports the following cards:

  • Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2200 802.11 b/g/n (2x2)
  • Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 (2x2)
  • Broadcom BCM943228HM4L 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi Adapter (2x2)
  • Atheros AR9485 802.11 b/g/n WiFi Adapter (1x1)

You can only use one from the above list.

Regards.
