How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?

 

I grasp that you recently upgraded your operating system to Windows 10 and now you have wireless connectivity issues.

The wireless light is lit on the keyboard but it does not find any networks,  but other devices do.  You have tried power cycling the notebook but that did not help.

I read your post on the HP Support Forums and wanted to give you the information you needed. I understand that you have an HP Pavilion dv7-6b78us Entertainment Notebook PC and you need all of the drivers for it. 

 

There are a couple ways for you to get all of the updated drivers for the HP Pavilion dv7-6b78us Entertainment Notebook PC. You could use the HP Support Assistant to download all of the drivers for your Notebook. Or you could use the HP Pavilion dv7-6b78us Entertainment Notebook PC Driver's web page and pick which drivers you would like to download. 

Please follow these provided troubleshooting steps, re-post and let me know how everything went.

I AM HAVING 2 ISSUES

 

1. A BLUE COLOURED, 'WELCOME TO YOUR NEW HP' COMES AGAIN AND AGAIN IN 3-5 MINUTES

 

2.I AM NOT ABLE TO RUN CONNECTIFY. IT SAYS SOME AP MODE PROBLEM IS THERE.

Today I turn on my notebook and my wireless mode was OFF. When I press the key to turn it ON it just turn the airplane mode ON or OFF. I tried going to Settings and I tried turning the wireless mode ON from there but it does not work, it is on OFF and it will not go into ON.  Somebody knows why its doing this, it never happened before. I used system restore but it did not work. Could somebody help???

Yep, may be antenna - the reason,  because new drives downloaded did not help, unfortunatly.

 

I am in Australia and my area does not have good internet,  or....I don't know.... I am not knowledgeabled.

Sorry the updated driver didn't help.

 

My money is on that your notebook only has 1 antenna attached to the card.

I am still getting this **bleep** error and nothing I have looked for and found has worked.  I can get connected sometimes by going into Airplane Mode, by Restarting the computer, unchecking the connecdt automatically box..  But nothing consistent.

 

I am using an ATT DSL Router and this is the only network that I am having trouble connecdting to with this machine.  All of my other devices connect no problem.

 

This is my kids homework computer but in reality it is becomming a big piece of crap/dead weight.

Hi:

 

What I mean by that is...I believe your notebook only has one antenna, and that is why the reception is so poor.

 

For some reason, HP likes to only include 1 wireless antenna in notebooks with that model Realtek wireless card.

 

All wireless cards have two terminals to connect antennas to--including yours.  A main terminal and an auxiliary terminal.

 

The second wire connects to the auxiliary terminal to improve the wireless range and reception.

 

So basically your card is only getting half the reception it should with only one antenna.

Hi,

I can't connect with my wifi to any wireless network. I can see the network and connect to the network through other devices. So far I have tried resetting the router, resetting/shutting down the computer, unchecking the selection for my Wifi adaptor to turn it off to save power, and running the windows troubleshoot. I've also disabled and re-enabled my Atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adaptor. I recently downloaded League of Legends, but it has been working fine and hasn't caused problems. This happened upon starting up my computer today. 

 

Please help, thank you.

Im trying to connect my pc to the internet and Im unable to connect wireless or cable. When I go to device manager it shows the following all with the yellow triangle symbol 

 

Network controller

PCI Device

PCI Serial Port

PCI Simple  communication

SM bus controller

Universal serial  bus usb controller

Unknown device

 

Any advice would greatly be apperaitated

If you don't have an ethernet connection on the laptop use another machine to download the driver. Transfer it to a usb flash drive and move it to the laptop.
