Re: Laptop won't connect to the internet?

Thanks for the reply! However, none of the solutions listed has worked, sadly. I have been unable to connect to any networks at all. Think that perhaps a corrupt file caused the WiFi to stop working, I've also reset my laptop to default settings. Hopefully this could help with anything.
I was unable to download the program to test the network card, due to having no internet connection.
I tried troubleshooting the problem, and it says "Plyg in an Ethernet cable." and "A network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken." As my laptop never had an Ethernet cable plugged into it, I am very confused.
I don't believe the problem is within the router, as all other wireless devices are able to connect to my Internet connection.
Hopefully this provides further information to help?

Tried your suggestion still does not work disabling WPAD does not allow to install or check windows updates so turned  it back on. After checking event this is what I found. Instead of a DNS Client warning and ERROR

DNS CLIENT EVENTS ID:1012 :

There was an error while attempting to read the local hosts file.

The warning still happen but this time there was an error. Here is the full detail:

Hi:

Most likely the wireless card in your notebook only supports the 2.4 GHz band.

If you let me know what model wireless network card you have, I will confirm that for you.

If you don't know what model wlan card your notebook has, go to the device manager, click to expand the Network Adapters device category and there you will find the name and model number of the wireless network adapter (card).

Hi, i bought i new laptop but i stumbled upon a problem immediatly when i installed my operating system, i found out i can't see any wi-fi network around me.

Troubleshooting said that i have a network adapter driver missing and after that some quick googling took me to a similar problem (http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Wireless-Internet-Home-Networking/Missing-Network-Adapter-for-HP-Pavillion-laptop/td-p/2984705) where the solution said that i should post something like this:

HP ENVY 15 updated to Windows 10, now can't connect to network

I recently updated to Windows 10 with my laptop (came from Windows 8) and keep in mind, Windows 8 was working fine but now that I have updated to Windows 10, I can't connect to my home network.

When I turn on my laptop, it doesn't automatically connect to my network and when I do try to connect from network settings, I get an error "Cannot connect to this network" and I'd have to wait at least 30 minutes before it automatically connects. After waiting it works but my laptop goes to sleep or goes inactive for a while, it disconnects again and I'd have to wait

I have connected via hotspot and it worked fine but all my other HP laptops connects fine and they're Windows 10 as well. Only this laptop is acting up so I assume it's a problem with a new driver.

Try reinstalling the drivers for the Wireless Card from the manufacturer of the wireless card.

I had to go on my other computer, go to intel's website and get the latest wireless drivers for my wireless card, selecting the correct OS for the computer. It is usually around 20mb. In my case it was an intel 7265 dual. After I transfered it by usb to my computer, I installed the drivers and it all worked fine again.

Good luck.

Your Service Manual:

Manual

From painful historical experience I can reluctantly tell you that the only wifi adapters that will work are those listed in the Manual and, not only that, it has to be the HP version of the card, with an HP Part Number. Anything else will stop the computer from booting up. Not my design, not my advice to build laptops this way but it is what it is. Of the listed adapters you already have the best one.

I first began to have wifi issues when I try to install a recommended "by HP assistant" intel drivers. The installtion fails and then you begin to have issues. I got a really good HP support guy who took over my computer remotely and did a restore point from some ago and kinda worked but I was still getting the BSOD.

I decided yesterday to update win 10 (came installed on computer) and then no wireless.
