Hi@GG85,

Welcome to the HP Forum! It is a terrific place to find answers and tips! For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide. First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More . What is your product or model number of the notebook? HP Notebook PCs - How Do I Find My Model Number, Serial Number or Product Number? What operating system are you running?

I understand that when you used Chrome you got the message that "Google Chrome cannot display the web page" and the connection manager pops up on the screen. This is a built in HP utility to aid with network issues. If you retry to open the web page does it come up?

Please go ahead and run the connection manager. If the issue remains, have you done all your Windows updates? Have you run the Windows troubleshooter? Have you run the HP Support Assistant? Please let me know the outcome.

If this has helped you to resolve the issue, please click on"Accept as Solution"on said post. To show that you 'like', or are thankful for my post, kindly click the “Thumbs Up”below. If there is anything else I can do to help, please be sure to let me know!

So why is suddenly my wifi signal so bad ? Like litteraly 2 feet from the modem it has barely one line of signal, and it used to be 5. I checked the connector of antenna and it is perfectly fine attached.

Seems that I'll have to ask elsewhere.

An IMEI number is for a mobile telephone. You have a notebook PC. Unless it has a WAN interface, it wo't have an IMEI number.

It would help if you identified you notebook with its complete product number. It can be found at the bottom of every HP Support Assistant window and in the BIOS under system information at the bottom of the window.

Thanks for the guidance, sadly this has not changed the situation.  It is still not recognising the adaptor on initial start up, only on the second reboot.

Any other ideas?

HP dv7 laptop wireless-N 1030 no longer working after Windows 10 upgrade

$

Hello,

Wireless functionality was lost on my HP Pavillion dv7t-6c00 laptop when I upgraded to Windows 10.

Here's what I have in my laptop now:

Manufacturer: Intel Corporation
Description: Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 1030
Driver version: 15.11.0.8

I've read some support threads on this topic and it seems that this wireless card is not supported by Intel in Windows 10.

I've also read that one suggestion is to replace the wireless card with an Intel Advanced-N 6230 wireless card.

I tried to replace the wireless card prior to upgrading to Windows 10 with an Intel Advanced-N 6230 wireless card but the wireless card I purchased seemed incompatible with the laptop, as it gave me a Halted screen when I started up the laptop.  So my frustration is I would gladly and easily replace the wireless card but I can't keep purchasing cards that are incompatible with the laptop.

What are my options?  Is there a specific/guarenteed HP Laptop compatible part number that I can purchase?   Even better, is there a link to where I can purchase a card that will definitely work?

Thank you ver much,

Chris

Hey there! thanks for the reply.

I went through the article and it's indefinite whether it is a problem with the laptop or the headphones.

Have you tried using the internal microphone of the laptop during your conference calls?

Do you have the same static noise?

It could be the skype settings which needs to be changed.

So follow the steps and let me know if this helps.

1. Sign into Skype

2. Go to Tools > Options > General > Audio settings

3. Uncheck Automatically adjust under the Microphone and Speakers sections

4. Set volume to your preference

5. Save and restart Skype

Let me know if this works!

Have a great day!

I grasp that you are getting limited or no internet connection when using a wireless or a wired connection. Please review this post by -Deku Tree.

Here is a list of steps that commonly resolve issues with wireless connectivity.

First, we have a step by step guide to walk you through the troubleshooting process here:
Troubleshooting Your Wireless Network and Internet Connection

A second option, is to try these steps:
Powercycle the network:
1. Shut down your notebook.
2. Unplug the power to your router.
3. Unplug the power to your modem.
4. Wait at least 45 seconds.
5. Plug in the modem, and wait for it to come back online.
6. Plug in the router, and wait for it to come back online.
7. Turn on your notebook, and test your connection.

Disable the Power Off option for the adapter:
1. Open Device Manager. (Win Key+R > type devmgmt.msc > OK)
2. Expand the Network adapters.
3. Right click on the Ethernet/Wireless Adapter and click Properties.
4. Click the Power Management tab.
5. Remove the check mark beside Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
6. Click OK.
7. Test.

Reset the TCP/IP settings on your PC:
1. Go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.
2. Right click on the command prompt icon and chose Run as administrator.
3. In the window that opens type "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" without quotes, and press enter.
4. Restart your PC and test.

It may also help to reset the winsock catalogue:
1. Go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.
2. Right click on the command prompt icon and chose Run as administrator.
3. In the window that opens type "netsh winsock reset" without quotes, and press enter.
4. Restart your PC and test.

Reinstall the network adapter drivers:
1. Download the drivers from here but do not run them yet.
2. Go to your start screen/menu and type Device Manager.
3. Expand Network adapters.
4. Right click on the wireless adapter and choose Uninstall.
5. Run the downloaded drivers from step 1.
6. Restart your PC and test.

Test an ethernet connection:
Self explanatory. Test if the issue persists on a wired connection to rule out the wireless adapter hardware so troubleshooting can be directed towards the right areas.

Test another connection:
Many people rule out their home network as an issue if another device is working on the same network. Networking is not that simple. Each device interacts differently with your router or modem and it is impossible to rule out settings in that device until the notebook has been tested on another network.

If those three steps do not resolve the issue, try this document published by Microsoft for networking issues: Wired and wireless network problems. You can change the operating system with the dropdown in the upper-right corner of the document.
