Greetings,
a friend of mine asked me to fix her Compaq 6730s. I managed to fix the actual problem, but in the process I dared to press the WLAN button.
As expected the WLAN device is no inactiv. It is listed in the device manager and the HP Connection Manager. All of these tools report it as fully functional but disabled by the button (even the BIOS selftest says so).
The problem is, pressing the button does not change this state.
After some internet research I think this is what the internet calls the "yellow/orange WLAN indicator of DEATH". I could not find any fix which was reported to work.
I found one fix wich worked for some devices, but I think this is propably the worst fix ever (fix from hell).
Has anybody fixed this in software?
I guess the only option left is open the box and try to find the cold solder joint of the button.
