Hi,

I appreciate the reply, but the wireless adapter is most definitely not soldered to the motherboard, see the picture below. This is supposed to be one of the upgradeable components on the laptop. I understand the purpose of restricting the components to those HP knows will function correctly and not cause problems. However, this is an upgradeable component and HP should either provide an accurate list of compatible wireless cards in the manual, provide it on request, or give consumers the ability to void their warranty and use an unapproved card. Those seem like safer alternatives than people trying to modify the bios to remove the whitelist restriction.
