Hi,

I have a problem with my laptop WIFi button, it won't turn on no matter what I do. It always appear in orange light.

Product: Compaq Presario CQ40-506TU

Tried:
1. To change the setting at Window Mobility Center but the turn on button is gray. (can't click)
2. Changing to another window profile it is still the same.
3. Checked the adapter at Device Manager but it show "working normally"

I want to try to reset to default setting in BIOS Mode but I worry that it will effect all the file I have in my laptop.

Pleae do advice, I need the WIFI connection to do my work.

Thanks

Some more info what O/S version do you have? Does your laptop have HP wireless assistant installed and if so check to see if the program didin't disable the wifi. Then next would be to take out the wifi and reboot and then reinstall the wifi device and see if it detects and loads the right driver for it. And also try to remove the device driver and reboot and see if it reloads the right driver? But if you do all this and still no wifi that would leave only one results would be your wifi device is no longer operational and needs to be replaced.
