I got the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 wireless adapter working with the correct drivers now on this M7 series notebook.
Also note: This is just a regular Intel Centrino card, not one from HP (from what I can tell), and without an HP part number sticker on it.
HP had the driver all along in their download section for this wireless adapter card.

The install may or not be tricky on your end. It was for me and the package would not install right. Go to the actual folder that it expanded the installation files to, and go to the win7\S64\Install folder and run the setup from there.
The install takes quite a few moments, so be patient. If you have Device Manager open, you will see the devices being detected and appearing as the drivers are being installed. After the install is finished, you will know see both the Bluetooth radio adapter and at least 4 new entries under Network Adpaters.
I am now running at the full 300Mbps, on 2.4Ghz, and can connect easily at 5.4Ghz on my Netgear Dual Band router, albeit at 54Mbps. (But I can probably tweak the channels on the router and get a faster connection speed.)
I highly suspect that the 6230 model is not the only one that can run on this Notebook, because the driver from HP is not specific to which model numbers of the Intel Centrino Advanced-N wireless adaters, so you might be able to run newer models since we know now that this series wireless adapter is whitelisted in the BIOS.
