Please Help! I only have Local Connection, can't access internet when connecting wireless

Problem: When attempting to connect to a new router (TRENDnet TEW-652BRP V2.2R) I only have the Local Connection, and cannot access the internet. However, it does connect via Ethernet. Therefor I am sure it is not the router, or the modem. I believe it is my configuration (I have quadruple checked) or MORE LIKELY the Atheros AR5007 802.11g/b wireless adapter (Driver 9.2.0.444 Driver Date 8/21/2011). Running Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit SP2. Compaq Presario C175NR Notebook PC (C700 Series). P/N:KC590UA#ABA.

So does anyone have an idea what I should try? I am sure it cannot be this difficult, and I am missing something super easy.

Some troubleshooting steps I have tried:  – Updating the wireless adapter driver, uninstalling/reinstalling… - Read forum after forum and searched Microsft, HP, and theinternet for solutions and tried the suggestions I found. - Contacting HP, Antheros, and Microsoft with NO help or suggestions just the run around.
