I bought a Chromebook 14 recently and when I did I did not set up the free Tmobile internet because I have WI-Fi at home. I am now wanting to set it up and when I go into settings and disable the WIFI and click on Wireless it searches for ever and finds nothing to connect to. Can anyone help me with this please?

Qualcomm Atheros Wireless driver won't install
Hello.
My hp support assistant found me 2 qualcomm dirvers called:
Qualcomm Atheros AR9000 Series Wireless Driver for Windows
Qualcomm Atheros AR9000 Series Wireless Driver for Windows 8.
So i download the drivers with the hp support assistant but they doesn't install, i don't know where is the problem.How i can install the drivers?
My pc is a Sleekbook 15-b141el with windows 8.1 64bit
And sorry for my English that is not my native language.

Download and install the Vista wireless driver for your model wireless card directly from the Intel support site and see if that helps.
You want the vista driver 14.3.0 -- 32 or 64 bit as applicable.

HP 6730b - Intel WiFi switched off after botched Linux installation
I was testing Suse Desktop 12 Beta2 on HP Compaq 6730b Notebook with 2 GB Memory, 160 GB HDD (AHCI SATA) and built-in Intel Wifi. The first partition 100 GB was dedicated to Windows 7 Professional and which was working fine with Wifi and ADLS router Broadband connection. The 60 GB partition was reserved for Linux.
After unsuccessful installation of installation of GRUB boot system, I found that rhe Intel Wifi was switched off. I could not access Wifi from Windows 7. Whatever I did I could not make the built-in Intel Wifi working. It was showing the wifi was switched off. There was no physical switch on this Laptop.
It is still very hard for me to believe that whatever I did I could not make Intel wifi working.
I had –
a. Shtdown and restarted Laptop many times
b. Enabled, disabled Intel Wifi on device Manager. Checked wifi configuration etc.
c. Unistalled and reinstalled Intel Wifi driver
d. Upgraded latest driver by downloading from HP site
It was showing that the Wifi is switched off. When restarting the Laptop the Wifi showed connecting signal and after that with red crossed marked(disabled).
It is still very strange for me. The wifi started working after a successful SLED 12 Beta 2 installation.
Is there any software than can be installed on Windows 7 and can use as switch for the Intel Wifi on HP 6730b notebook ? There is no information on HP support site.

the computer is running vista. I also installed a USB WIFI device and it worked fine. However, the way this computer is used i"m concerned it will get broken off. Other then installing a new wifi card, is there any way to test if it is the card or the motherboard- switch.

To ensure it is not simply corrupted software causing the issue, you could perform a complete System Recovery using this method: Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows Vista). You would want to make sure you back up all your important files first.
Regarding a USB WiFi device, you can get low profile USB dongles that barely stick out. I did that for one of my older notebooks, as I had the same concern with someone stepping on it, or my kids breaking it accidentally. You can barely tell that it is plugged in.

You can restore it to a previous point when it was working correctly. If that is not a help, here is a link to using Bluetooth devices.

I saw your post regarding using the Bluetooth. Your model actually doesn't have a Bluetooth adapter. Here is the specifications page for the Pavilion dv6-1253cl and under Wireless Connectivity it only shows 802.11 a/b/g/n WLAN.

As you do have all the current updates available at this time, it appears that you are getting the correct speed. I have included the Maintenance and Service Guide for your notebook. If you take a look at page 37 it will show the only other card that is known to work with your system. The card that can work in your system is the Qualcomm QCA9565 802.11bgn 1x1 Wi-Fi + BT4.0 Combo Adapter 733476-001. Since it travels on the same BUS it is unlikely to provide faster results.
