Hello Dragon-Fur, and thanks for the suggestions. I am already able to connect dial-up with my Lenovo XP machine, and my question has to do with a new HP Probook 4540s with W 7, using dial-up mainly when I travel to places where there is no wireless or ethernet coverage. The Probook has no RJ-11 port, so I am wondering if I need either a USB dial-up modem or an ethernet-to-dialup converter. I just now tried to set up a dial-up connection and W 7 said it could not detect a dial-up modem. So, is the USB route the only choice? Again, many thanks for your interest and comments. Regards, John Whitney
