Hi:
What model wifi adapter does your notebook come with?
If you don't know, go to the device manager, click to expand the Network Adapters device manager category, and there you will find the name and model number of the wireless network adapter.

I have traced my 2700ms - 3200ms ping spike (every 31st ping) to the following:
OMEN Command Center software. As soon as I end this service the ping is nice and stable. When I fire it back up I start getting the huge lag spikes.
This is with version 9.2.6.0 of the command center.
Biggest kick in the junk....i need this software to enable cooling because I also have the MINDFRAME headphones. This just started the last couple weeks.
This is on a OMEN Desktop (OMEN by HP Obelisk Desktop 875-0xxx) with a RTL8822BE 802.11ac card on driver v 2024.0.8.107

so i kept looking at this. Turns out i found out which specific process/exe was causing this.
Turns out the culprit is OmenCommandCenterBackground.exe When i end this process the Pings go back to normal.
What is this .exe doing? Its going to be annoying having to end this every time i fire up Omen Command center....
Hi
I await developments.
I recently bought a new laptop (HP, Windows 10). This PC appears to mess up my WiFi router so that my cell phone and my old laptop (Dell, Windows 10) can’t connect. If they’re already connected when I turn on the new PC, the connections are broken – not always instantly, but within a couple hours – and can’t be re-established unless I cycle power on the router. I have not been able to figure out what triggers it. Sometimes my other devices are able to reconnect after I power down the new PC, other times they won’t reconnect until I cycle power on the router.
This is not a bandwidth issue. It happens even when the new PC is essentially idle, with no resource-hungry processes running in the background. It is NOT running a WIndows Update; the new PC accesses the WIFi and internet at a "normal" speed.
The router (Belkin) is a few years old. It would be easy to say it’s worn out or obsolete but it works perfectly when the new PC is not connected – and the WiFi connection to the new PC works perfectly all the time – so I have no reason to believe replacing the router will solve the problem.
Ideas?
Hi,
Not sure about the wifi adaptor. It shows the error "The Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 bgn wifi adaptor is experiencing driver- or hardware-related problems." So i think the adaptor is Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 bgn.
Thanks
Vish
You're very welcome, Vish.
Yep, that's the one.
OK...
Download this driver (use another PC if you can't connect via ethernet, and copy it to a USB flash drive, and copy the driver file to your notebook's hard drive. Put it where you can find it like in your user profiles 'Downloads' folder.
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp96501-97000/sp96885.exe
Once you have done that, go to the device manager, click to expand the Network Adapters device manager category, right click on the troubled Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 bgn wifi adapter, select Uninstall and check the uninstall driver box.
Restart the PC, run and install the updated driver file you saved, and see if that resolves the issue.
Sorry I haven't responded in a while, I checked for old drivers with CCleaner and non came up, then i installed the driver you linked in your post, and yet i am still getting the same problem. Also when i checked the WLAN and bluetooth FCC IC it showed thhe same as yours.

Hi,
my computer is an old HP 655 Notebook PC which i set up with Windows 10 Home 1903 from scratch.
Ethernet didn't work. I read a lot and could help myself.
What helped:
I downgraded the BIOS from F.29 to F.27.
I plugged the Ethernet cable in and made a restart.
Ethernet worked, and i could uncheck the energy saving option in the device manager.
Restart.
Till then all is working fine, even the old Windows certificated drivers.
I did not install any Windows 8 drivers from the HP Homepage but let Windows do the job. It worked.
Hope that helps
Great, it works!!!
Thanks Paul.
You're very welcome.
Please try what I did early this morning: Disconnected ALL connections. The reason: my machines normally are connected to my home network BUT this morning, the gateway was down therefore my machines were connected to my network as default.
When turning on my phone hotspot, and connected my machines my phone but they still "think" their old network. I can see they were connected to two SSID's but could not connect to internet. I disconnected them from normal network and bingo.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
So quick update, the Command Center problem after the latest update has fixed but the ping spikes seems to still be occurring.
Thank you for posting back.
BIOS default has no relation with Hard Drive data, hence performing hardest and BIOS restore will not erase your system data.
